Diogenes clearance in Paris 7th
Clearance starts with a decision. We sort only what the person entitled to give instructions authorises to leave. We dismantle items where necessary, pack them, carry them out and direct them through appropriate disposal routes. Thorough cleaning of the surfaces exposed after clearance is a separate service with its own page.
A clearance can involve belongings accumulated over time, furniture, papers and containers whose ownership or destination is not obvious. We do not appraise anything or sort by worth. Each set is presented for a decision, and anything not settled remains in place. The agreed scope also covers how items move through the building, how shared areas are protected and which disposal route applies.
- Sorting follows the instructions received
- Dismantling requires prior agreement
- Packing and carrying follow the actual route
- Surface cleaning is separate work
A clearance organised around the building
Before anything leaves
- We identify the exact lot concerned
- We confirm who is entitled to give instructions
- We distinguish belongings awaiting a decision
- We agree what must remain protected
Moving through the property
- We inspect doors, turns and landings
- We account for low openings and narrow stairs
- We keep passages usable while working
- We follow the building rules for common areas
After sorting
- We pack items before taking them out
- We group trips where the route allows
- We keep containers closed during carrying
- We report unusual containers without opening them
A former staff room on the top floor
In many buildings of the 7th, a former staff room on the top floor forms a separate lot from the main flat. It may belong to a different owner from the person who contacts us, or to the same owner without being the same property. We therefore establish exactly which lot is concerned before any item is touched, and we confirm who is entitled to give instructions for that lot. Authorising a clearance in the flat does not authorise emptying the room on the sixth floor. We do not infer ownership from the position of a door, the name on a key or the fact that rooms are reached through the same building. The agreed scope names the premises concerned, and anything outside it stays outside our work until a separate decision is given.
The route down from that level determines the practical arrangement. The room is served by its own staircase, often narrower than the main stair, with steeper steps and tight turns. The lift may not reach the top floor. A low doorway, a cramped landing and a corridor serving several rooms can limit the container size and increase the number of trips, regardless of the volume stored. We inspect that passage before proposing an arrangement and protect the agreed surfaces along it. What may be used in the common parts, and when, is settled by the building’s rules and the managing agent, not by us. We leave nothing waiting in a shared passage.
How the clearance proceeds
Scope
We record the lot, rooms and sets of belongings included in the agreed clearance.
Decisions
The person entitled to give instructions authorises what leaves, set by set.
Route
We check the doorway, staircase, turns, landings and shared areas before carrying.
Dismantling
We explain when dismantling appears feasible and obtain agreement before doing it.
Packing
We pack items securely and keep containers closed throughout the journey.
Disposal
We separate ordinary waste from healthcare waste or chemicals requiring dedicated routes and, where necessary, an authorised or specialist provider.
What shapes the arrangement
- The exact lot and rooms included
- The decisions still required
- The number and type of items
- Whether dismantling is feasible
- Door, stair and landing dimensions
- Container size and carrying limits
- Rules for shared areas
- The disposal route for each category
The arrangement follows the actual route rather than the apparent volume alone. A former staff room may require smaller containers, more carrying stages or additional protection because of its low doorway, steep private stair, tight landing and shared corridor. We also distinguish items that are already authorised to leave from those requiring a decision. Any unusual container is reported without being opened, and healthcare waste or chemicals follow dedicated disposal routes with an authorised or specialist provider where their nature requires it.

Questions about Diogenes clearance
Does clearance include cleaning the exposed floor?
No. Thorough cleaning of surfaces revealed after items are removed is a separate service and is not included in clearance.
Who decides what can be removed?
The person entitled to give instructions decides for each set. We do not decide from the appearance, location or apparent value of an item.
Can you empty a former staff room because the flat is included?
No. A separate lot needs its own confirmed scope and the authorisation of the person entitled to give instructions for it.
Can every piece of furniture be dismantled?
No. We assess the construction, condition, access and route. Dismantling requires prior agreement, and we guarantee neither reassembly nor reuse.
Do you guarantee finding all personal papers?
No. We set aside papers we identify according to the instructions given, without guaranteeing that all documents will be found.
What happens to unusual containers?
We report known containers without opening them. Healthcare waste and chemicals follow dedicated disposal routes and may require an authorised or specialist provider.
Can items wait in the corridor or stairwell?
No. We organise the route so that nothing is left waiting in shared passages, subject to the building rules and the managing agent.
