Diogenes syndrome cleaning in Paris 6th

We sort before cleaning. In a 6th arrondissement flat, books, magazines, newspapers, papers, frames and objects may have built up over years. We do not appraise, value or sort them by worth. The person entitled to give instructions decides set by set, while anything still undecided remains where it is.

Défi Clean organises the sorting of accumulated belongings and then cleans the surfaces that become accessible. We work within the rooms and operations approved by the person entitled to give instructions, without diagnosing or interpreting the occupant’s behaviour. Clearance alone and disinfection have separate scopes and dedicated pages.

  • Books, papers and objects sorted by set
  • Decisions made by the authorised person
  • Exposed surfaces cleaned after sorting
  • No appraisal or clinical interpretation

Sorting paper without judging its worth

Establish the decisions

  • The authorised person decides each set
  • Undecided items remain where they are
  • Personal papers follow the agreed instructions
  • We never sort by supposed value

Move carefully

  • We create usable passages between piles
  • Heavy boxes move in manageable stages
  • We place retained items where agreed
  • We never push the accumulation towards another room

Clean what appears

  • We clean surfaces once they become accessible
  • Skirting boards may remain partly covered
  • A hidden floor may show old marks
  • Any extension requires a new agreement

Books and papers around rue de Rennes

Around rue de Rennes and the Notre-Dame-des-Champs quartier, a flat can hold books, magazines, newspapers and papers collected over many years. Frames and objects brought back over a lifetime may stand beside the piles. We never say that a book, paper or object is worth keeping or not worth keeping. We do not appraise an edition, value a frame or identify an object’s market importance. The person entitled to give instructions decides set by set. A shelf, box or pile that has not been decided remains in place. This applies whether the request comes from a relative, landlord, managing agent, notary or representative. Our task is to organise the agreed sorting and cleaning, not to make choices about value or ownership.

Paper also changes the physical work. A box of books weighs more than it looks and can become too heavy before it is full. Piles hide the floor, skirting boards and the lower parts of furniture. Once we clear a section, the surface underneath may show a mark, worn finish or damaged covering that lies beyond cleaning. We explain this limit before extending the work. Personal papers are set aside when we identify them and follow the instructions given, but we do not guarantee finding them all. We clean the surfaces included in the approved scope and leave undecided items where they are.

Our sorting and cleaning method

Define the scope

We agree the rooms, sets of items and surfaces included before moving anything.

Identify the categories

We separate books, magazines, newspapers, papers, frames and objects without interpreting their worth.

Gather decisions

The person entitled to give instructions states what stays, goes or needs a specific search.

Create a passage

We move items in stages so a practical route remains open through the room.

Inspect exposed surfaces

We look at the floor, skirting and furniture when a section becomes accessible.

Clean the agreed area

We clean the surfaces stated in the quote and report damage beyond cleaning.

What we assess before starting

  • Rooms included in the approved request
  • Volume of books, magazines and papers
  • Number of sets requiring a decision
  • Weight and format of boxes
  • Space available for retained belongings
  • Level of checking requested for papers
  • Surfaces revealed after items move
  • Separate clearance or disinfection requirements

Sorting depends on the decisions you need to make, not only on the amount present. We can set aside personal papers that we identify according to the instructions given, without guaranteeing that every document will be found. We do not diagnose the occupant, use clinical vocabulary or interpret behaviour. Clearance and thorough cleaning are separate services, and disinfection is not added automatically. A marked floor, damaged skirting or worn covering may need separate repair work.

Frequently asked questions

Do you decide which books or objects should be kept?

No. We do not appraise, value or sort by supposed worth. The person entitled to give instructions decides each set. Anything still undecided remains where it is.

Can you search for a particular paper or book?

A specific search can be agreed separately and included in the quote. We follow the instruction given, but we do not guarantee finding a particular document, book or object.

Why does paper make the work heavier?

Books and bound magazines are dense. A box can become too heavy before it is full, so we adapt the containers, movements and number of carrying trips to the actual load.

Do you clean underneath every pile?

We clean surfaces that become accessible within the approved scope. A floor or skirting board still covered by items remains outside reach until the person entitled to give instructions authorises further movement.

Are personal papers always set aside?

We set aside papers we can identify according to the instructions given. We cannot guarantee finding every personal document, especially when papers are mixed inside books or boxes.

Does this service include clearance?

No. This service covers organised sorting and cleaning of exposed surfaces. Dismantling, packing, carrying and disposal belong to the separate clearance service.

Is disinfection added after sorting?

No. Disinfection applies only to already cleaned surfaces when their condition justifies it. It has its own scope and is not added automatically to a sorting request.
